"Fire & Ice" - Pat Benatar cover by Renee & Bob
(Renee Savoy Willoughby & Bob Gilmartin, July 2020)

Kicking off the show,
that was a fabulous cover
of Pat Benatar's 1981 hit
"Fire And Ice" sung so
very nicely in isolation
by Jersey girl Renee
Savoy Willoughby,
a veteran songstress
who performs with
the Hoboken based
wedding cover band
Groove. Renee was
accompanied on
guitar by Bob Gilmartin.

Hi everyone! As you recall I'm Will Gorski,
a Chicago police officer on the science fiction
drama Sense8. A few weeks ago you met four
of my friends who were presenters for Shady's
salute to diversity. Today I'm joining the three
remaining sensates to bring you the Best of the Quarantunes - great performances by artists all
over the world recorded during this challenging
year of social distancing, hunkering down and
sheltering in place...fine entertainers like this
next act from Adelaide, South Australia. It's singer/songwriter Kat Jade and her band
featuring Michael Bates on co-lead vocals.
They perform a rendition of a Motown song
originally waxed into a hit by Marvin Gaye
and Tammi Terrell and later by Diana Ross.

Kat, a jazz, pop and blue-eyed soul singer, was a contestant on the Australian
version of The Voice, and you are about to see and hear why. Here are Kat,
Michael and the band doing-- "Ain't No Mountain High Enough!"

Hello, I'm Wolfgang Bogdanow. If your memory is intact you know that
I am a locksmith and safe-cracker living in Berlin, Germany. I'm taking
you to England now for another song cover released by singer and
musician Amy Slattery, another collaboration with her dad Gerry.
This time the duo covers the 1974 chart-topping debut single
by the English pop glam band The Rubettes.

Back for another go round are the
delightful Romanian duo of singing sweetie Beatrice Florea and guitar
hero Andrei Cerbu. Direct from
Andrei's garage, here they are
covering the 1979 Bob Seeger
hit that went on to become a
popular music standard.

My name is Capheus but my friends
(and enemies) call me "Van Damn"
because I am the world's biggest fan
of Jean-Claude Van Damme. As you
may remember, I am also a minibus
driver in Nairobi, Kenya. We are circumnavigating the globe in
this Quarantunes program, and I
would like to introduce Russia born
YouTube star Alyona Yarushina.
Alyona performs a cover of the
1968 hit by Janis Joplin and her band
Big Brother & the Holding Company.

Erma Franklin, a top 10 R&B hit

Now meet another rising star, Ukrainian YouTuber Victory Vizhanska. In the
delightful iso-performance you are
about to see, Victory adopts the
style of her idol Marilyn Monroe
as she sings "I Never Met A Wolf
Who Didn't Live To Howl," a song
from the 2012/2013 American
musical drama TV series Smash.

Hello again! I'm Riley "Blue" Gunnarsdóttir, an Icelandic DJ living in London.
I'm sure you remember my series of Riley's Raves on the old blog Shady Dell
Music & Memories. I have returned and so has Anne Reburn, the talented
singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer originally from Oklahoma now
living in Los Angeles. In this shot-at-home video, Anne does her version
of "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss)" best known as the top 5
hit by Betty Everett in the spring of 1964. Here's Anne!

We hope you enjoyed Best of the
Quarantunes - homemade cover
performances by exciting music
makers around the world. Earlier
in the show you met Kat Jade,
a talented young singer in
Adelaide, South Australia.
To play us off, here's a
wildly popular band in
the same city that Kat
knows and works with.

You met them earlier this year, HSCC - The Hindley Street
Country Club, and they're back with "Physical," the Olivia
Newton-John single that spent 10 weeks at number one on
the U.S. chart in late 1981 and early '82. Now for Will,
Wolfgang and Capheus, I'm Riley "Blue." So long!
