  1. Haven't seen a couple of those films, but know her well from the DC movies and The Muppets. She was really good in Arrival as well.
And just noticed you have Nadja's doll in your side bar - too cool!

    1. Hi, Alex!

You claim the Early Bird title again this week, good buddy!

Thanks for attending the first A.A. Meeting held here in Shady's clubhouse. Please repeat after me. I (state your name) am an Amyholic. I certainly am! :)

I'm pleased that you know actress Amy Adams and have seen several of her films. Mrs. Shady and I have had Arrival on our watch list for some time now. I also want to see Her (2013) starring Joaquin Phoenix, Scarlett Johansson and A.A.

Yes, I have had Nadja's Ghost Doll in my sidebar for several months now, probably since last Halloween. I'm glad you noticed her. Look for her to exchange barbs and biting humor with Count Dracula in posts that run during October.

Thanks again for being first through the door, good buddy Alex. Have a super week ahead!

I also like Magnet & Steel.

    1. Hi, Kelly & Pat!

You guys finished second again this week, dear friend, and I thank you for hurrying over to attend your first A.A. Meeting. It's the right thing to do!

Place your left hand on the Mad Magazine, raise your right hand (or right paw, as the case may be) and repeat after me. I (state your name) am an Amyholic. :)

I'm delighted that you appreciate the acting talent of my favorite actress Amy Adams. Mrs. Shady and I have Julie and Julia on DVD and Arrival on our must see list. "Magnet And (Man of) Steel" seems like the perfect song to play during the Superman segment of today's meeting.

Thanks again for coming to the A.A. Meeting, a combination platter party, movie review and Lifetime Achievement Award for Best Actress. Have a wonderful week, dear friend Kelly!

  3. Tom,
I temporarily broke away from reading your post when I noticed your visit on CAAC, so thanks for dropping by. Now to your new post series. It seems we've seen her in a few movies over the years but I can't recall which ones now. I do recall watching the drama "Big Eyes" while using my elliptical a few years back. The story of the female artist who's career was nearly stolen from her by a con-artist she married turned abusive husband in the 60s. Margaret Keene, the artist, is known for her big eyed innocent characters. Amy did a fantastic job in the film. I love The Muppets! I checked with Amazon Prime to see if it's available for streaming. It is if you want to pay for it. I think I'll wait to see it when it doesn't cost anything extra. I always thought Amy was a pretty gal but golly she's a super duper looker in "Little Town Flirt"! I had forgotten she was in the Superman movie and I didn't know there was more than one that she starred in. The only song I recognized in your line up is Walter Egan "Magnet and Steel". It's been quite awhile since I've heard this oldie, too. Great reminder! I need to check Walter Egan out on YT. I'll look forward to the next volume in this series. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

    1. Hi, Cathy!

Thanks for attending the A.A. Meeting, dear friend! As leader of this 12-Steps to Entertainment program, I was the first to raise my hand, take the oath and admit to one and all that I am an Amyholic. :) I'm excited to have you here as well.

Yessum, Amy Adams starred in the biopic Big Eyes, a great movie that Mrs. Shady and I have seen a couple of times. Your memories of the film are vivid. As an artist, I encourage you to watch (if you haven't already) the Bob Ross documentary film on Netflix entitled Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal & Greed, and the new 2023 film Paint starring Owen Wilson.

Yessum, Mrs. Shady and I watched The Muppets movie when her retarded brother was here visiting us from California over Christmas. We needed to rent it.

The Del Shannon hit "Little Town Flirt" served as a "poor man's music video" for the series of Amy Adams GIFs I posted. The movie the loops came from is Serving Sara, a 2002 romantic comedy that is slammed by most critics, but I ended up liking it a lot. The star, Matthew Perry from Friends, was reportedly a wreck during production and needed to take weeks off for rehab because his alcohol and drug abuse had gotten out of hand. The movie started out terrible and I almost gave up on it, but I stuck with it and it got better and funnier as it went along. Liz Hurley and Amy Adams were both great in it.

Yessum, "Magnet And Steel" is a great soft rock classic that is seldom heard (by me) this deep into the 21st century.

I'm thrilled that you like this new series saluting my favorite actress Amy Adams. Thanks again for making time for a visit, dear friend Cathy, and have a terrific week! (See you Wednesday.)

    2. Tom,

You piqued my curiosity on the Netflix film about Bob Ross but unfortunately we dropped our subscription a few years back. I'll try to keep this one tucked away on my memory shelf. I love romantic comedies and will watch for "Little Town Flirt". Have a wonderful day, dear friend!

    3. Hi, Cathy!

Welcome back in, dear friend! To spare you from searching in vain for a movie called "Little Town Flirt," I need to clear up the confusion and let you know that the Amy Adams movie we have been discussing is called Serving Sara. "Little Town Flirt" is merely a Del Shannon oldie that I picked to serve as a music bed for the series of GIFs showing Amy Adams in the role of a gold-digger in Serving Sara. The movie is available to watch free on Tubi, Plex and Freevee, if you happen to have any of those channels in your system.

Thanks again for returning to follow-up, dear friend Cathy. I wish you a wonderful Wednesday as well!

  4. I like Amy who is quite versatile and would have been in quite a few musicals if it eas the 30s or 40s. Livevthe Muppets and all they showcase. Those 2 songs make me want to dance but I am still feel weak snd shaky.
I love the original Loveshack by the B52's but she does a good job. The next song is fun because we all have flirted at one time or another. The next song is just ok but love Magnet and Steel. This fits perfectly in your story line.
Amy always looks so put together. I love that green gown she wore at the Oscars, I believe.

    1. Hi, Birgit!

Repeat after me. I (state your name - "Harley") am an Amyholic. :) Welcome through the gate, dear friend, and thank you for doing the right thing and coming to the A.A. Meeting at Shady's Place!

In the interest of transparency and full disclosure, I will share with you that there was a time in my life when I was not willing to admit that I had a problem. I thought I could quit watching Amy Adams movies anytime I wanted. Boy, was I wrong! I was unable to kick the habit. The urge was so great that I fell off the wagon time and time again and went back to watching her amazing acting performances.

Yessum, that's an interesting thought. Had she been born decades earlier, Amy Adams would probably have appeared in many romantic musical comedies, might even have danced with Fred Astaire.

I'm delighted that you like the cover of "Love Shack" by Mojo. I read that they are a Boston-based wedding band that features three award winning singers. Glad you like Del Shannon's hit "Little Town Flirt" and Walter Egan's claim to fame "Magnet And Steel."

Yessum, Amy Adams cleans up good. I'm pleased that you appreciate her look and her acting ability. The range of characters she has played in her career is very impressive. As I recently told you, I am striving to be an Amy Adams "completist" and watch every single movie she's ever done, including her earliest works Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999), Psycho Beach Party (2000), Cruel Intentions 2 (2000) and the film featured here in volume 1, Serving Sara (2002). I watched Serving Sara a few weeks ago and liked it lot more than most critics and reviewers do.

I didn't know you are still feeling weak and shaky, Birgit. If that means you suffered a relapse over the weekend, I am sorry to hear it. Cuddle up with Harley and get well soon!

Thanks again for making time for a visit and for your kind comment, dear friend BB. I'll see you later in the week at BBC!

  5. I think Amy Adams has that "girl next door" look...until she doesn't! She's a beauty who can play it understated or go full hottie! I haven't seen a ton of her movies but I did really like her in Julie and Julia. I enjoyed the Muppet clips and the Life's a Happy Song should be sung every day! I didn't really know that Amy Adams could sing but it was fun to see her in this series and I know you'll find other perfect songs to go along with her in future posts. I enjoyed my first AA meeting! Have a wonderful week Shady!

    1. Hi, YaYa!

Welcome to the A.A. meeting, dear friend, and thanks for coming! Seems like you are willing to swallow your pride and admit to yourself, to me and to the rest of the world that you are an Amyholic. :)

Yessum, one of the things I admire most about Amy Adams is her versatility. She is equally adept and convincing when portraying a seductive she creature or an accomplished professional woman. I liked her a lot in the miniseries Sharp Objects (2018) and in the Hitchcockian film The Woman In The Window (2020). In both of those projects, she appeared largely without makeup and looking drab and spent, certainly not dolled up like she is in many of her other roles. Amy is willing to go deep for the sake of her craft, and I really like that in an actor.

I'm happy to know that you enjoyed Julie and Julia. Mrs. S and I have it on DVD. I agree that it might help for all of us to sing "Life's A Happy Song" every day.

I'm delighted that you got so much out of your first A.A. Meeting. (Sorry about the weak coffee and stale donuts.) Amy Adams is prolific as well as terrific, and you'll see more pictures, GIFs and video clips from her movies coming up in future meetings here at Shady's Place. Thanks again for joining the fun, dear friend YaYa, and have a wonderful week!

  6. I liked Amy Adams in the Disney self-parody Enchanted, particularly the scene of her cleaning the apartment with the help of New York City "wildlife."

"Magnet and Steel" is an old classic rock favorite. The rest is new to me. Very much liked Mojo's swing-like version of "Love Shack" and Dannii Minogue's "Perfection". Del Shannon's "Little Town Flirt" was OK.

    1. Hi, Kirk!

Welcome to the A.A. Meeting, good buddy! I am proud to be your sponsor. As you have discovered, this A.A. Meeting has a twist. I don't want you to kick the habit. I want you to get hooked and stay hooked on actress Amy Adams, just like I am.

In my quest to become an Amy Adams completist, I have not yet seen Enchanted or Disenchanted. Of the A.A. projects released over the last five years, I have seen and recommend Sharp Objects, Vice (the story of V.P. Dick Cheney, playing wife Lynne), and The Woman In The Window, the latter a Hitchcockian film similar to Rear Window. Nocturnal Animals and The Master are well worth seeing, and Amy was absolutely sensational in American Hustle. I very much want to see Arrival, Her and Charlie Wilson's War, the latter another political film someone like you would surely appreciate. She was great in Talladega Nights and Catch Me If You Can with Leo Di Caprio. Among Amy's earliest works, I liked the movie featured here, Serving Sara, a lot more than critics told me I should, and the same was true of Cruel Intentions 2, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Amy shines in Psycho Beach Party, and she was the breakout star and scene stealer of her first picture Drop Dead Gorgeous. If you liked watching Amy cleaning, i recommend Sunshine Cleaning, in which a young woman and her sister operate a business removing biohazards and cleaning up bloody crime scenes.

I'm happy that you enjoyed Walter Egan's biggie, the Mojo wedding band cover of "Love Shack" and Dannii Minogue's mid 2000s dance ditty that samples VIcki Sue Robinson's 1970s disco anthem "Turn The Beat Around." Dannii, the younger sister of Australian singing superstar Kylie Minogue, has a string of hit records nearly as long as Kylie's, was a soap star and is well known and loved in Oz, the Land Down Under. Several of Dannii's hit dance singles rely on the familiar riffs and melodies of 20th century hits by other artists.

Thanks for dropping in for my first tribute - slash - Lifetime Achievement Award - in honor of my favorite actress Amy Adams. Enjoy the rest of your week, good buddy Kirk!

    1. Hi, Mary!

Sure enough, I found your comment in the gremlin operated spam bin, but only an hour after it was published. That's not too much of a delay.

Thanks for coming to the A.A. Meeting, dear friend! At this A.A. Meeting, you are encouraged to get hooked and stay hooked on actress Amy Adams. (I admit that I am an Amyholic and binge on her movies every chance I get.)

I'm glad you are familiar with the prolific, terrific Amy Adams, my current favorite actress, replacing Naomi Watts who held the top spot on my list for many years. Yessum, Amy can sing, dance and play almost any kind of role that comes her way.

Thanks again for joining the fun, dear friend Mary!

    1. Hi, Lux!

It's great to see you again, dear friend! Thanks for reporting in from the other side of the world. It sounds like you are well on the way to becoming an Amyholic like Shady. Once I got a taste of Amy Adams' charm and acting ability, I was hooked for life. I haven't even tried to quit watching her movies. My goal is to be an A.A. completist and watch everything she's ever done. So far, I have watched all of the films that are available free at my current subscription level and have paid to rented a few others including The Muppets. I have still not seen
Arrival, Her, Charlie Wilson's War or Drop Dead Gorgeous and they are all high on my rent list.

Friends alumnus Matthew Perry was reportedly having serious problems with drugs and alcohol during filming of Serving Sarah, the 2002 movie featured here. Production was halted midway so that he could dry out in rehab. The movie gets off to a slow, rough start but, once it gets rolling, it is funny and entertaining. The performances of Amy Adams and Liz Hurley help make it worthwhile.

Yessum, I well remember the unique chemistry between Monica and Chandler Bing, an inspired romantic pairing on Friends. Thanks for the reminder, and thanks again for joining the fun this week at Shady's Place. Enjoy you weekend, dear friend Lux!

    1. Hi, Sherry!

I'm pleased to see you, dear friend. Thanks for coming to the A.A. Meeting! :)

Yessum, actress Amy Adams is prolific as well as terrific. She has quite a long list of movie credits, plus she appeared in three episodes of the mockumentary TV sitcom The Office in 2005. She is also versatile, as you suggested, able to play a flirty vixen or a mature professional woman with equal cred. More of Amy's memorable movie characters will be revealed in future A.A. Meetings here at Shady's Place, so stay tuned.

Thanks again for dropping by and enjoy the rest of your month, dear friend Sherry!
