THE SHANGRI-LAS
Now we're back in the U.S... back in the U.S... back in the U.S. of A., baby...
to hear one of the biggest and best by the drama queens of Queens, New York,
The Shangri-Las. In the summer of 1965, Mary Weiss and her streetwise
girl group appeared on Dick Clark's TV show Where The Action Is
and performed a song that cracked the top 20 earlier that year.
With Jeri Lyn Stapleton of The Action Kids dancers working it out on
the right, here are The Shangs and-- "Give Him A Great Big Kiss!"

LESLEY GORE
Hey now... it's time for me to introduce another
New York-based songstress, pop queen Lesley Gore.
The poster above is fibbing, mate, because the seldom heard "Hey Now"
turned out to be one of the lowest charting non-hits of Lesley's career.
The recording style is R&B influenced, a departure from Lesley's
earlier recordings. As such, it didn't tickle fan fancy. Sales also
suffered from controversy over the B side, "Sometimes I Wish
I Were a Boy," which some people thought contained misogynistic
lyrics. Just before Halloween, 1964, Lesley performed "Hey Now"
on the star-studded T.A.M.I. Show which alternately stood for
"Teenage Awards Music International" and "Teen Age Music
International," an event that was released as a film at the
end of the year. "Hey Now," here's Lesley!

FIRST TO ELEVEN
In 1980, the American new wave band Blondie scored the biggest hit
of their career with "Call Me," the theme from the movie American Gigolo.
The Blondie platter spent six weeks atop the U.S. pop chart. Fast forward
42 years to present and enjoy frontwoman Audra Miller and her popular

exciting cover of the Blondie classic-- "Call Me!

THE SHIRELLES
In 1958, the song "Everybody Loves a Lover" was a big record for Doris Day,
the last major hit in the U.S. for the veteran singer and actress. In the fall of '62,
the New Jersey girl group The Shirelles released a cover that made the top 20
in the early weeks of 1963. Here now are The Shirelles, one year later at
the start of '64 appearing in the UK TV movie It's Little Richard and
wowing the crowd with their New Orleans R&B-style
performance of-- "Everybody Loves A Lover!"

THE PAPER DOLLS
The Paper Dolls were a Brit girl pop trio of the late 60s. Seeing
as how each bird had a nickname (lead zinger Susie 'Tiger' Mathis,
Pauline 'Spyder' Bennett and Sue 'Copper' Marshall)... the act
predated The Spice Girls and paved the way for future
girl-pop trios like Bananarama and Atomic Kitten.
In 1963, "My Boyfriend's Back"
by the U.S. girl group The Angels
spent three weeks at the top of the
chart, earning it a spot high on
Billboard's list of 100 Greatest
Girl Group Songs of All Time.

PETULA CLARK
We started the party with a number by Petula Clark, and Pet gets the nod
to sing the last song of the night. Everybody knows Petula is one of
Britain's biggest singing stars, but you might not know that she is
also a gifted songwriter. Ironically, some of Petula's songs and
recordings were more popular in the U.S. and France than
they were back home in the UK.
Along with famed British composer Tony Hatch, Petula co-wrote "You're the One"
and it became a top 5 hit stateside for the vocal group The Vogues. Pet released
her own version of the song as a single and it fell short of the UK top 20.

with French poet Pierre Delanoë, might have been a better choice

You know you want to... YEAH!
This post was a lot of fun! I don't really have much more to say. I think I might be a bit flabbergasted at being so high up in the comment thread for once!
ReplyDeleteI hope you've enjoyed your weekend, Shady, and that you and Mrs. Shady have a lovely Valentine's Day.
Hi, Ashton!
DeleteI'm delighted that you showed up as the Early Bird this week, dear friend! Thanks for coming to Austin Powers' annual Valentine's Day dance party.
If you had fun during your visit to Shady's Place, that's a win for both of us. Thanks for letting me know.
I wish you and your husband a happy V-Day as well and hope you are all feeling well and recovered from your bout with the bug.
Thanks again for dropping by, dear friend Ashton!
Petula Clark: A lovely lady with a lovely voice.
ReplyDeleteI love My Boyfriend's Back, but could not have told you who performed it!
Hi, Kelly!
DeleteThanks for coming to Austin Powers' Valentine's weekend dance party, dear friend! (Dang, you've got me hooked on Wordle.)
Yessum, I was pleased to find these two seldom heard Petula Clark recordings and decided to give you a double dose of Pet in this year's V-Day post. The U.S. girl group The Angels had the original smash hit with "Boyfriend's Back," but it has since been covered by many other girl groups and solo artists. I was pleased to find this cover by The Paper Dolls of the UK. Other notable covers have been waxed by The Chiffons, Martha And The Vandellas and Melissa Manchester. A few years ago, I posted a cover released in 2009 by Kat Graham, the singer/actress best known for her role on The CW supernatural drama series The Vampire Diaries.
Thank you again for coming so early, dear friend Kelly. Have a terrific week!
I've never watched any of the Austin Powers movies. I've never been a fan of comedy.
ReplyDeleteOf course I know Blondie. That song was very popular.
But I didn't recognize the other songs.
Hi, Mary!
DeleteThanks for attending the annual Austin Powers platter party, dear friend!
It's fascinating to learn that you have never been a fan of comedy. I don't think anyone has ever told me that. Please forgive me in advance if the humorous content I present accidentally makes you smile or laugh. :)
I thought F211 did a more than capable cover of the Blondie hit "Call Me," and I encourage you to watch the version performed by Maria Brink and her ITM band several years ago. It's killer.
Thanks again for dropping by, dear friend Mary!
I've never watched any of the Austin Powers movies either. I love comedy and Mike Myers, but the movies came out when I was a child. Maybe I'll give it a chance, and maybe Tommy will want to give it a chance too.
ReplyDeleteI loved all of these songs, dear friend! These are some of my favourites and once that cassette USB comes, I'm putting some of these songs on for Tommy.
The Blondie cover is amazing. I'll have to check out more of First to Eleven. I know the playlist I'm playing tomorrow night. You just made a great soundtrack for Valentine's Day evening.
Happy Valentine's Day, dear friend.
Hi, Jessica Marie!
DeleteHappy pre-Valentine's Day Sunday, dear friend, and thanks for coming to the bash hosted each year by Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (and music history).
Gosh, I think you and Tommy would get a kick out of the silly antics in the Austin Powers movie trilogy. All three are great. Austin's in line to become a full-time SPMM radio DJ, so stay tuned for that.
I'm happy to know you enjoyed Austin's lineup. I found some wonderful rarities and was thrilled that they have been brilliantly remastered, upscaled, restored, remixed, whatever you want to call it.
Thanks for acknowledging First To Eleven. That Erie, PA, band is on fire, generating a gazillion likes on every song/video upload and, get this, their channel boasts 1.31 million subscribers! I'm completely sold on them and will be bringing you their best as we go along.
Thanks again for coming early and happy V-Day to you and Tommy, dear friend JM!
Hi Shady,
DeleteI'll have to ask Tommy if he ever saw the movies and if he hasn't, if he would like to watch them with me. We both like British things, so it might go over well. :)
I love your blog entries and all of the work you put into it. I'm definitely going to play this tomorrow night. If there's a DJ at Sweetheart Skate, maybe I'll request a song or two. This will be my first time at Sweetheart Skate, so I'm excited, and Tommy is too. This is both of our first time celebrating Valentine's Day and it's our first Valentine's Day as a couple. Tomorrow is exciting for both of us. :)
I'll definitely have to check out First to Eleven, then!
Thanks, dear friend. Happy V-Day to you and Mrs. Shady!
Hi again, JM!
DeleteI love all of the characters Mike Myers has created over the years, and Austin Powers is the one I selected above all the rest to appear as a regular presenter on SPMM. The Austin Powers movie trilogy is a hoot, poking fun at the spy genre popularized by the 007 books and films.
I'm so glad you appreciate the work/play that goes into Shady's Place posts. I create features like this one for my own amusement and entertainment. When friends like you also find them fun, it makes my day.
I can't wait to find out what Sweetheart Skate is all about. It would indeed be cool if they have a DJ who takes requests.
The timing couldn't be better for you and Tommy to get back together, with V-day coming right up. I wish you guys a very happy and memorable one.
Yessum, F211 is tops. They cover material in several different genres over a 50+ year time span. They're for real, and I'll be bringing you their best right here.
Have a nice evening and a wonderful week, dear friend JM!
Hi Shady,
DeleteSweetheart Skate was fun. There was a DJ, but he didn't take requests. Ah, well. I'll post about it tomorrow.
I now see why Tommy needed a few weeks. We're both so new to these feelings. He really surprised me, and you'll get a taste of it on today's Thankful Thursday post. :)
Hope you and Mrs. Shady had a great Valentine's Day.
Thanks! We did.
DeleteHappy Sunday my friend. I am, indeed, in my studio and what better place to listen to all of these songs. I know Pet Clark and Leslie Gore but these were not the most familiar to me of their songs. I had to wonder at the costumes on the Shangri Las. What exactly was that on their heads? I think F211 did a great job with Blondie's hit.
ReplyDeleteHope you and Mrs. Shady have a wonderful Valentine's Day. Maybe while I'm out in the studio I'll make my hubby a card.
Hi, Janet!
DeleteWelcome back in to Shady's Place, dear friend! Thanks for joining the fun with Austin Powers as he hosts another V-Day dance party.
I'm delighted that you found several songs to your liking this time. I remember that Petula Clark minor hit "Don't Give Up." It was big in my neck of the woods the first year I was dating the future Mrs. Shady #1. For my posts, I always try to find material that I haven't run before, and I hit the jackpot this time around with these recently uploaded rarities by Pet and Lesley Gore, plus the remastered sync edit video of the Shangs appearing on Where The Action Is. For that performance, I'm thinking the girls were wearing the same hats worn by Paul Revere and the Raiders, the house band on WTAI at the time. I'm thrilled that you recognize the greatness of that F211 cover. It's one of the best covers I've encountered on YouTube in the 2020s.
I'm happy to know you are safe at home and in your element there in the studio. Thanks again for coming by and have a wonderful week ahead, dear friend Janet!
Not the song itself, but that video for Petula Clark's "Don't Give Up!" doesn't look very 1968ish. Is it from a concert she did like maybe 20 years later? Anyway, I like that you bookended with Clark. Very unique voice.
ReplyDeleteThat Blondie cover is a nice twist on the original. Not a slavish imitation, but not completely different either.
Man, did you see that beehive hairdo on the girl in the audience in that Shangri-Las video? I bet there's contraband in there.
All the other songs are good, too.
Austin Powers is great, but I miss Dr. Evil. He's the Yang to Austin's Yin.
That's all I got.
Hi, Kirk!
DeleteThanks for coming to Austin Powers V-Day platter potty, good buddy!
I'm happy (and Austin is happy) to know that you appreciate the Pet Clark bookends. I don't think Pet's performance in the first video was from the late 80s as you suggest. Let's do the math. When "Don't Give Up" was riding the chart in the summer of 1968, Petula was age 35, soon to be 36. To me, she looks more like a 35 year old woman in that video than a 55 year old woman. Do you agree? That video is another example of a homemade hybrid. The uploader took the original studio sound and laid it over the existing footage of Pet singing the song in concert. I always select my videos based on the sound quality, and that one is tops of the pops, so I went with it.
I'm glad you are the third friend to indicate that they appreciate the Audra Miller - F211 cover of "Call Me." I think it is one of the finest covers of any song to show up on YouTube in the 2020s.
Thanks for pointing out the huge beehive on that girl in the audience on Where The Action Is. I didn't noticed it before. I'm thinking she might have been smuggling a few of her friends into the venue w/o tickets.
Let's not forget "Mini-Me," Verne Troyer, who died four years ago this spring.
Thanks again for staying up late and joining the fun, good buddy Kirk!
Happy Valentine's Day to you and Mrs. Shady! I hope you kids enjoy this day with a bit of romance and whole lotta love! That Austin Powers is a gag. What a fun post filled with some groovy sounds from the 60s! The American groups I knew by name but all of the songs in this post were new-to-me with the exception of the "My Boyfriend's Back" and "Call Me covers". The songs in your line up released mostly early in the 60s and I think I was just too young to remember them. I enjoyed listening to your music set this sunny but chilly morning. Have a great day, dear friend!
ReplyDeleteHi, Cathy!
DeleteHappy Valentine's Day to you and DH and welcome to Austin Powers' annual V-Day dance party, dear friend! I'm glad you think Austin's a hoot.
Yessum, my two blogs have focused mainly on the mewsic of my teenage years, and that would be the Swinging Sixties. Unless particular 60s songs were famously covered by other artists in the 70s or 80s, there's a good chance you never heard them before. That's a good thing, because it helps you fill in the gaps and gives you a mewsic history education. I'm sure you remember me posting Kat Graham's cover of "My Boyfriend's Back" a few years ago. She is the R&B/dance pop recording artist and actress from Vamp Diaries that you introduced to me. "Call Me" has been covered by many artists, my favorite being In This Moment.
Yessum, we've got another sunny but chilly morning going down here, too. I wish you and DH a V-Day filled with happiness and thanksgiving (and good food). Enjoy your week, and I'll see you tamale, dear friend Cathy!
Tom,
DeleteThe one thing appreciate about the content on SPMM are your music reflections from your boyhood years which broadens my music education and frequently causes me to search out some of your featured artists from days gone by.
I do recall you using Kat Graham on your site but I'm not sure that I recall her cover of "My Boyfriend's Back". Let me pop over to YT to listen to it. BRB... Okay, yeah I remember Kat's hip hop of the classic. She's a talented young lady. Man, I wish they hadn't ended the Vampire Diaries. That was such a fun series.
Thanks for popping in this morning at CAAC to vote in my latest BOTB, my friend. I hope your day shapes up to be a nice one, not cool or too warm, but just right! Ours is gonna be like a spring day with sunny skies and temps in the upper 50s to low 60s. It sure is pretty outside my window. Take care!
Hi, Cathy!
DeleteThanks for swinging back over for a visit, dear friend!
I didn't want to go on and on about it on your blog this morning, but I want to take this opportunity to let you know how great it feels to have a friend like you who truly appreciates what I am doing here. It is an honor knowing that you pay close attention to the artists and songs I present, and that you are often motivated to do research on the side and even produce spin-off posts of your own that are inspired by my content. Moments like this one today, discovering that your BOTB is based on a song you found on SPMM, are what make blogging worthwhile for me. You are a great friend, Cathy. Thank you!!!
I'm glad you remember me posting Kat Graham's cover of "My Boyfriend's Back." I have one or two more of her songs in the pipeline, so stay tuned.
Yessum, it turned mild down here today, and Mrs. Shady and I went out and worked the garden for an hour or so. It was nice to be outdoors for a change after being cooped up inside due to the bitter cold we had for weeks on end.
Thanks again for being such an asset to the blogging community and such a wonderful and faithful friend, Cathy!
Tom,
DeleteAhh, you're so kind. I truly love that you are the inspiration for much of music discoveries and inspirations. This is not only good for me but like it makes your feel appreciated and really isn't that the best way to show your bloggy friends just how much what they do means to you? Keep sharing those oldies! I'm ready to soak it all up like a sponge. :)
I'm tickled you like Kat Graham. She hasn't put much up on YouTube in recent years. I imagine she's spending more time on her acting career and that's why her last uploads are from three years ago. Whatever you share in future posts, I'll be excited to listen to!
Thanks for visiting this morning. Have a wonderfully Wild Wednesday, my friend!
Thanks, Cathy!
DeleteOur great friendship is definitely something worth preserving. It reminds me of an old song that was popular when I was a boy entitled "(We belong to a) Mutual Admiration Society." Here's a comedic version performed on The Ed Sullivan Show:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b658-gC_qqA
Yessum, I wish Kat would release some new material. It's been a while. She's a zesty performer and makes entertaining videos.
Thanks again for everything everything EVERYTHING, dear friend Cathy. Have a super day and I'll be seeing you soon!
Not a bad cover of Call Me.
ReplyDeleteBetter be pictures from that beach volleyball game...
Hi, Alex!
DeleteThanks for coming to Austin Powers' annual V-Day bash, good buddy!
You and several other friends have given thumbs up to Audra Miller and her F211 band for their recent cover of the Blondie hit "Call Me." Thanks for letting me know you dig it.
Shady's snapping pictures galore down in Cabo. We shall see what develops. Thanks again for dropping by and have a great week, good buddy Alex!
Austin did you proud, Shady. I hope you held up well during the volleyball tournament I'm sure you did, but what distractions you were surrounded with.
ReplyDeleteHi, Cheryl-Lee!
DeleteThanks for attending the annual Austin Powers V-Day dance party, dear friend!
Yessum, dirty old man Shady loves any beach game that involves a net. (... and Frankie Avalon isn't very happy about it. :)
See what I did there?
Thanks again for taking a peek at the post, dear friend Cheryl-Lee, and happy Valentine's Day to you!
Happy Valentine's day a day late Austin and Shady! I enjoyed the selections...some I knew and some were just new...to me anyway! Hey, Shangri Las...Paul Revere and the Raiders called...they want their hats back! Shady, I hope you and Mrs. Shady had a love filled Valentine's Day and will have a good week ahead!
ReplyDeleteHi, Yaya!
DeleteI'm delighted to see you, dear friend! Thanks for coming to the annual V-Day bash thrown by Austin Powers. There's still plenty-o-punch left in the bowl, so help yourself. :)
Yessum, in her comment, friend Janet (above) asked where those goofy hats came from that the Shangs were wearing as they performed on Where The Action Is. If you freeze the video 1 or 2 seconds in, you can clearly see Paul Revere And the Raiders having a seat in the foreground, and four of the guys are w/o their hats.
I'm glad you enjoyed Austin's V-Day lineup featuring tweeting birds on both sides of the pond. Thanks again for dropping by and for your cheery V-Day greeting. I wish you a great week as well, dear friend YaYa!
Happy post Valentine's Day, Easter, oh,,, let's throw in Happy Lent Day. As per norm, I am late but I am here and so thoroughly enjoyed listening to these gals. I had to look up Petula Clark and was shocked that she will be 90 years old!?? Wowza! She has one of the strongest and most unique voices and I loved listening to both of her songs here. It was interesting to read about her early life and how she started to sing.
ReplyDeleteThe Shangri-La's were just fun to listen to and watch this video where they didn't quite sync when they were talking. I have to admit, the one gal looks like a guy in drag. That is so mean of me but...yeah. Oh and that beehive hairdo of the one gal in the audience could make an eagle's nest!
Lesly Gore is someone I never heard of nor the song but I enjoyed her voice very much.
Call Me...The gal's voice is strong and did a great job with it but I was not much into the heavy metal sound...big surprise.
The Shirelle's are excellent and great harmony as are The Paper Dolls which evokes the times of long ago. Pretty cool that they helped the girl groups if later years. have a fantastic day!
Hi, Birgit!
DeleteThe gang's all here now that you showed up, dear friend! Thanks so much for coming by to find out what mischief maker Austin Powers is up to this year as he hosts the V-Day dance. I'd like you to take a moment and gaze at that large fan-art sketch of Austin at the top of the post. Now imagine him smooching the daylights out of you on Valentine's Day! :)
I'm excited that you had so much fun during your visit, Birgit. Yessum, Petula Clark was a late bloomer on the worldwide pop scene. Most people thought and still think she's much younger than her actual age. In reality, she was born in 1932 and was already a singing star and appearing in movies during WWII.
The videos of The Shangri-las and Lesley Gore are examples of those sync edits I keep mentioning. Since the audio quality on the kinescopes and tapes of those shows is so poor, YouTube producers are taking the original studio sound recordings, remastering them, and marrying the restored music to the vintage performance footage. 9 times out of 10, when artists sang their hits live on TV shows, they sped up the tempo to preserve air time, and that's why the "lip flap" keeps drifting out of sync with the vocals on the soundtrack, requiring several jarring edits to keep matching them back up.
Yessum, you are the second friend to point out the girl with the giant beehive on her head watching the Shangs perform on Where The Action Is. I'm thinking she was hiding hoagies she brought along to the show for herself and several of her friends.
I'm surprised you don't know Lesley Gore, one of the most popular female vocalists of the 60s in the U.S. I came across that hybrid video for "Hey Now" and couldn't resits running the rare, low-charting ditty. I actually remember that record playing quite often on my local top 40 station at the time. Then again, York, PA, was a soul mecca, and that could explain why Lesley's R&B influenced song was popular in my neck of the woods. The Shirelles video is yet another custom sync edit uploaded to YouTube. There are many moments when the girls' lips are not moving in sync with the song, but being able to watch that rare vintage performance footage and hear the remastered studio recording at the same time is delightful and well worth it.
BB, thank you again, so very much, for making time for a visit and for your excellent comments. Enjoy the rest of your week, and I hope to see you at BB Creations tamale!
Hi Austin! Sorry I missed you earlier, but I hope you had a great Valentine's Day! Too bad Shady had to miss the day, and WOW, those are some great photos of you.
ReplyDeletePetula Clark is one of my favorites from the 60's, but she is truly and ageless lovely lady. I like her performance of "don't Give Up", and "Gotta Tell the World"! Of course,
"Downtown" is my favorite of Petula's recordings!
"Give Him a Great Big Kiss" is also a great song by The Shangri-Las! It's so good to see them performing. They are really cute and talented girls! And The Shirelles had some great hits. I know "Everybody Loves a Lover" is an old song, and Doris Day-I love you, but the Shirelles do a stand-up job on this one. I liked singing along with them!
So... First to Eleven I don't know, but their cover of Blondie's "Call Me" is pretty good. Audra has a great voice, but she just doesn't give it the punch Debbie Harry delivers. The band, however, does a great job with their accompaniment.
"Hey now" is not a bad song and I'm surprised to hear this one bombed. This is a true Lesley Gore story telling song, and appropriate for the time. Lesley adds some spunk to her strong vocals! I'll take it!
All of these songs are greats by the original artists and cover artists, Austin. I love "My Boyfriend's Back", and I applaud the Paper Dolls for their efforts, but I have to stick with the Angels original.
So, Austin...It's good to see you again bud! I sure hope Shady appreciates your efforts and expertise on musical history, and how to present the old and the new.
Shady, if you are nearby, thanks for giving Austin a chance to REALLY show himself, haha! Happy belated Valentine's Day and have a great week!
Hi, Suzanne!
DeleteI'm elated to see you, dear friend! I'm very happy that you were able to attend this year's V-Day bash hosted by that rascally rogue, spy guy Austin Powers.
Yessum, year in and year out, Petula Clark proves to be a favorite of many readers. Austin has played her hits and near-misses in most or all volumes of his Valentine's Day series. I'm glad you liked these two seldom heard songs by Pet. I'm also pleased that you enjoyed The Shangs doing one of their top hits of the 60s on Where The Action Is and The Shirelles resurrecting the Doris Day hit of the 50s in an obscure British TV movie starring Little Richard.
Regarding Audra Miller and F211, I have noticed that she rarely if ever "emotes" very much as she sings her covers of artists in various categories. Her style is cool and controlled. I think it is a Generation Z trait - simply not her style to exhibit a lot of passion, fire and zest. She lays down smooth, restrained vocals and lets the boys in the band perform in a more bold, flamboyant, theatrical manner. It makes for a refreshingly different and rather pleasing combination. F211 is an extremely popular band with one-and-a-third million subscribers to their channel.
If you are hearing "Hey Now" for the first time, then I am pleased to introduce the song to you. I didn't watch the T.A.M.I. Show, but Lesley's single was played pretty often on my local top 40 station.
I'm very happy to know that Austin Powers tickled your funny bone again this year. Shady has tapped him to become a full-time SPMM deejay, so stay tuned for the official debut of his show coming soon.
I hope you and Scootie are well and in good spirits. I know that Valentine's week is a tough period for you ever since you lost your beloved Karo. Tomorrow marks 27 years since my mother died. My dad had a big, beautiful Valentine card picked out and ready to give to her, but the day before V-Day she collapsed and was rushed to the hospital and placed in the I.C.U. She died in the unit just after midnight on the night of the 15th into the 16th, and my dad never had a chance to give her that lovely card. Her death at the too young age of 76 is a dreadful memory that haunts me every year at this time.
Thanks again for your friendship and support, dear friend Suzanne. Enjoy the rest of your week and I hope to see you back here soon!
Yeah, baby, totally shagadellic!
ReplyDeleteAustin Powers always cracks me up.
Haven't heard Leslie Gore's music in a while. Thanks for sharing that.
Hope you had a great Valentine's Day!
Hi, Sherry!
DeleteThanks for stopping in, dear friend! I'm glad you made it over to Austin's V-Day platter party. There's still punch aplenty, and the last dance isn't until Friday night, so welcome in!
I'm happy to know that Austin Powers cracks you up. He always has that effect on me. Just looking at that fan art head shot sketch at the top of the post is enough to set me off.
I'm delighted that you dropped in when you did, because Austin was proud to play that seldom heard non-hit by Lesley Gore. "Hey Now" was played on my local radio station at the time, but I hadn't heard it in at least 50 years until just recently when I found it on YouTube.
Yessum we had a nice V-day and I hope you did too. Thanks again for swinging over, dear friend Sherry!
