CHEESEPUFF!

CHEESEPUFF!

"Ballroom Blitz" - Sweet cover by Cheesepuff
(Aug. 2022)

Setting the def tone for this rockin' girl power blowout, that was the one and only
Cheesepuff doing a cool cover of "The Ballroom Blitz," a top 5 hit in 1975 for
the British glam rock band The Sweet. All I know about Cheesepuff is that
she's a Brit girl and an up-and-comer on YouTube. Last time I checked,
the sprightly sparkplug and her boo were touring the U.S.A. by car.
Speaking of "def," we've got 3 killer covers of Def Leppard songs
coming up in this exclusive Shady's Place special... so stand by!

I'm Ava Gardner Winters...
star of Obliterated, the raunchy, kick-ass, high octane action dramedy
on NetflixThink Mission Impossible meets The Hangover meets 24.

I lead an elite joint-special-ops team

assembled from the U.S. military and intelligence services.

Our mission... should we decide to accept it...

(and military command says we MUST)... is to

SAVE LOST WAGES!

By that, I mean we need to stop a terrorist network from blowing up Las Vegas.

The archvillain who heads the organization demanded a
ransom in the amount of $1,250 to spare the city from
destruction. Get real!  Who has that kind of money?

My O-team colleagues and I suited-up for spring break battle.

Yep, this is what a real American hero looks like in the 2020s.

Long story short: we took on the mad bomber's minions.

(O.J. ran through airports.  O-Team runs through casinos.)

We engaged the enemy... got the best of them...

and managed to disarm the bomb.

"Mission accomplished!" ...or so we thought.

Now comes Miller time!  This calls for a salivation!

Hittin' the clubs...

Oh, when the working day is done
Girls just wanna have fun

and taking lotsa selfies to post on our social media accounts.

Yes, folks. We celebrated our victory over Dr. Evil with a night on the
town filled with sex, drugs and alcohol (and don't forget rock & roll).

But right in the middle of our rager, we got the sobering news that
the bomb we defused was a fake, a decoy, and that the real nuke
is still out there somewhere and counting down to BOOM time.

There's only one answer - continue getting OBLITERATED!

Completely zonked from hours of hard partying, our challenge was
to suck it up, shake it off and plow through one wild predicament
after another to locate and neutralize the bomb and save the city.

I'm Lana Turner...just plain Lana
...a main character with no last name... can you believe?

I'm a civilian bimbo party girl who gets scooped up at a club by the O-Team
and dragged along with them through their series of wacky misadventures.

Don't assume that I'm just a dumb blonde.

When the chips are down, I always come through for the team.

My superhero power is melting men's minds
by letting them see me in my birthday suit...

like the time I was locked in a sauna with an armed guard outside the door.

I created a distraction by getting nekked and inviting him to snuggle up.

That enabled another team member to blindside and overpower the gullible chump.

More about us and our hit Netflix series in a minute, but right now, back to the music.

From this point on, Lana and I will run down an 8-in-a-row all-girl jam -
the best and most exciting pop and rock covers you're ever gonna hear.

In addition to the three Def Leppard songs I mentioned, we've got
a Battle of the Andreeas, an Aussie mother-daughter duo and more.
Simply put, Lana and I will leave all other DJs and all other playlists

 OBLITERATED!

Lana and I have ways of making you talk.... and you're gonna love all of them.

So, whatever you're doing... STOP!  Watch and listen.
Your eyes and ears are in for a treat!

This next song was requested by a listener who called my toll-free hotline.

musician, producer and new talent developer Andrei Cerbu.

She's Andreea Coman, and here she is with the first of our featured songs by
the British rock group Def Leppard. It's a fan favorite from the band's 7th
studio album Euphoria, a single that topped the U.S. and UK charts
in 1999.  Andreea Coman sings- "Promises!"

"Promises" - Def Leppard cover by Andreea Coman
(December 2023)

When it comes to covering Def Leppard, Andreea Coman is a straight shooter -
the real deal.  Check out the Romanian rock siren's version of another classic.
In 1988, this song became Def Leppard's first top 10 hit on the U.S.
Billboard Hot 100. Andreea Coman induces-- "Hysteria!"

Now, here's a dynamite mother and daughter duo from the land down under -
Australian singer Nikki Kosmider-Heuskes backed by her daughter Akasha Starr.
Akasha is an exciting young performer whose looks alone evoke memories of
Belinda Carlisle and other iconic women of 1980s pop and rock.  In the
performance you are about to watch, Akasha and mom Nikki are front-
women for Singit Live, one of Australia's leading cover bands,
as they cover Blondie's 1980 chart-topper-- "Call Me."

Now keep your ears on mama Nikki and your eyes on daughter Akasha
as they perform a second killer cover. This song was a #1 smash for
The Supremes in 1966 and for English pop queen Kim Wilde in 1987.

In terms of physical appearance, facial expression and body language,
Akasha bears an uncanny resemblance to Kim Wilde as mom and daughter

If you're just tuning in, you're watching the hottest women on the boob tube...

leading ladies of the outrageous new Netflix action comedy Obliterated.
I'm Ava Winters, beauty and brains of the crack O-Team strike force.

... And I'm just plain Lana... the O-Team's secret weapon in the battle to
SAVE LOST WAGES!
I'm a secret weapon because, when I shed my duds,
men are putty in my hands, especially evildoers.

You're in the middle of a Shady's Place exclusive - a girls-only
ballroom blitz... killer covers performed by female solo artists,
girl groups and female-fronted bands from all over the world.

More music in a minute, but right now, I need to get something off my chest.

It's about my male co-star...

Navy SEAL Chad McKnight.

Can you say "testosterone"?

McKnight and I fight like cats and dogs.

But, from the git-go, we felt the powerful chemistry between us.

We tried to keep our relationship professional, but the attraction was too strong.

On that night of debauchery when the team celebrated
and got ripped... McKnight and I wound up in the sack.

Now, don't get the wrong idea. We didn't sleep together.  No way.

We stayed wide awake all night long, babycakes. Oh, and in case
you're wondering about the half-ton dromedary in the room
watching us... there's a simple explanation.

"Skittles" always comes around on "hump day."

(BA-DUM-BUMP)

Yep, after makin' whoopee, we like to relax and unwind with a camel.

(BA-DUM-BUMP)

Bad news alert!  Turns out, Chad's a cad. I heard it through the grapevine.

The grapevine, in this case, is my on-again, off-again bestie Maya,
the team's NSA computer expert. She broke the news to me
that my lover boy has been living a double life.

Over on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, he calls himself Nate Heywood aka "Steel"

...and he's romantically involved with Zari Tomaz!

McKnight is a player and he's been playing both of us.
Okay, enough of my ranting.  Let's get back to the music.

I just took another phone request from a listener.  We've already met Andreea Coman.
Now let's hear from the other Andreea in today's lineup.  Andreea Munteanu returns
to Shady's Place to perform Jamaican singer Millie Small's 1964 international ska hit.

I'm going to dedicate the song to that two-timing Casanova Chad McKnight.
All this time, I've been a sucker for-- "My Boy Lollipop!"

"My Boy Lollipop" - Millie Small cover
by Andreea Munteanu (Nov.  2023)

That was perky Romanian cutie Andreea Munteanu, the scarlet fever
of Andrei Cerbu's band camp, with a delightfully bubbly cover
of the 1964 Millie Small hit "My Boy Lollipop."

Lana no-name back with you on S-P-M-M Retrosonic Radio...
the greatest little station in the nation.  Up next, I've got
a cover song by another Australian act - the Young Divas.

Formed in the mid-2000s, the Young Divas were a pop girl group
that consisted of former Australian Idol contestants. Members of
the act included Jessica Mauboy, who went on to a successful
career as a solo recording artist, songwriter and actress. You
might recall Shady Del Knight's 2020 post in which he
introduced Jessica and played her best solo hits.

The Young Divas video you are about to see features New Zealand rapper Savage.

Released in 2007 from their second studio album New Attitude,
"Turn Me Loose," originally a 1981 hit waxed by the Canadian
rock band Loverboy, was the last single by Young Divas.

Savage (Christmas 2007, highest chart pos. #15 Australia)

WOW!  Our Shady's Place special is going global.
My request line is lighting up!

A listener wants to hear one by Sweet California, a Latin-pop girl group
from Spain. On the 2015 Super Deluxe reissue of their 2014 debut
album Break Of Day, Sweet California shook things up with this
sizzling cover of Toni Basil's 1982 new wave hit- "Hey Mickey!"

"Hey Mickey!" - Toni Basil cover by Sweet California
(February 2015)

We hope you enjoyed our all-girl musical lineup and the chance
to learn about Obliterated, the spicy new Netflix series that
has earned Shady Del Knight's coveted Zeal of Approval.

I'm not sure if or when we'll be back with Volume 2 of
this S-P-M-M radio show... but I'm not taking any chances.

I'm planning ahead - trying on various combat uniforms

so that I'll be good and ready in case Commander Shady
sends us on another Mission Implausible.

What do you think?

I don't need to know what I'll be wearing on our next mission.
Whatever it is... I'll be taking it off in the first five minutes.

Wait a minute, Lana.  We've got another problem.  Commander Shady
is calling from back at headquarters. He reminds us that we are
almost out of time and that we have not kept our promise to
play three Def Leppard songs. He's also peeved that the
Battle of the Andreeas is unfair, pointing out that
Andreea #1 -  Andreea Coman - enjoyed the
advantage of singing two songs, while
Andreea #2 - Andreea Munteanu -
has only performed one song.

Don't worry, boss.  We've got it sorted.  Our final play
of the day delivers the goods and levels the playing field.

To close the show, Andreea Munteanu fronts the Iron Cross and sings
Def Lep song #3- "Animal."  Now for Ava Winters this is Lana saying
so long. We leave you with our O-Team philosophy. When life deals
you a losing hand, don't get mad... get Obliterated!

this year... make it Obliterated!"

  1. Happy Memorial Day, Shady! It's good to see you again, even if I don't have a clue regarding Obliterated! I'm woefully ignorant when it comes to current programming. I like Def Leppard, so it's interesting hearing female covers of their songs. Pat and I wish you and the Mrs. all the best as we head into summertime!

    1. Hi, Kelly & Pat!

Memorial Day greetings to you as well, dear friend(s), and thanks for hustling over on your holiday to claim co-Early Bird honors for this month's post.

Obliterated is a new Netflix series that was released last fall. Season 1 was an absolute hoot, and fans like me have been eagerly awaiting word on a start date for season 2. I just now checked on the status of the series and was very disappointed to read the following on Deadline.com:

<< Netflix has opted not to proceed with a second season of the hourlong action-comedy series. The cancellation comes as a little bit of a surprise as Obliterated spent a respectable six weeks in the Netflix Top 10 for English-language series following its November 30 release, peaking at No. 1 in Week 2. >>

      Go figure!

I'm happy to learn that you like Def Leppard. To my delight, Andrei Cerbu's coven of bewitching Romanian female vocalists have covered quite a few of the band's major and minor hits, and I was pleased to bring you three of them in this post.

Thank you again for your kind visit and comment, dear friend Kelly. Take good care of yourself, Pat, Grady, Fred and the rest of your bowwows until we meet again when I return in mid to late June!

  2. Las Vegas greetings to you on this Memorial day. I hope you are well.
I might have to get Netflix again to watch this show, Obliterated. But I read in your comment above that it got cancelled? Dang. How will they ever stop Las Vegas from blowing up now? lol Right now I only have Amazon Prime video but there seems a lot to watch on there.

Ohh I love Def Leppard! I still listen to them. Good covers of all the songs.

The, "This is what happens in Vegas" shirt is hilarious. I could see some people wearing that around here.

Turn Me Loose is one of my all time favorite older songs. Great cover but the original is still my favorite.

Thank you for the fun post. I know these posts take a lot of time and we do appreciate them. Have a nice weekend.

    1. Hi, Mary!

Thanks for taking second place on a holiday, dear friend, and for bringing my buddy Falcor with you!

I promised you Vegas... and I gave you Vegas. I'm happy that you got a kick out of the post, that you dig Def Leppard and that you enjoyed the covers. If you don't mind me saying so, I think this batch of covers is the greatest and most entertaining ever assembled in a single post. Brit mystery girl Cheesepuff, the two Romanian Andreas, Sweet California doing the Toni Basil hit, Jessica Mauboy and her Australian girl girl group covering Loverboy, and the Aussie mother and daughter duo fronting the Singit Live band - they're all sensational.

Yessum, Obliterated is wall to wall rowdy, raunchy fun. I'm glad you noticed the funny shirt worn by "Trunk." All of the characters are great. I know that you have watched Legends of Tamale and related series in the CW Arrowverse. Nick Zano, who played "Nate" aka "Steel" on those superhero shows, co-stars in Obliterated. His exciting co-star, Shelley Hennig ("Ava"), is exceptionally good, as is blonde Alyson Gorske playing party girl Lana and Kimi Rutledge as Maya Lerner, the team's NSA computer expert. I haven't laughed out loud as often watching any other series. It's a doggone shame it got canceled.

Thanks again for dropping in. I'm delighted that you had some fun on an otherwise solemn holiday. Please take good care of yourself and my buddy Falcor, dear friend Mary. I hope to reconnect with you a few weeks from now when I return with my next post.

  3. My favorite is the Cheesepuff cover of "Ballroom Blitz", especially the way she adjusts her voice when doing the famous "Are you ready?" intro. Second favorite is Sweet California's cover of "Hey, Mickey". Like listening to a trio do a song that was initially (as far as vocals go) a solo. Third favorite is Andreea Munteanu's cover of "Animal". She gets very animalistic singing it.

Ava Gardner and Lana Turner were much gossiped about in their day. According to Dorothy Kilgallen and other columnists of the 1950s, it's what supposedly broke up Frank Sinatra's marriage to Ava. Those rumors are now thought to be more myth than reality.

    1. Hi, Kirk!

Thanks for joining the fun as I present my full review of Obliterated. As you might recall, I teased the raunchy Netflix series at the start of the year when Ava and Lana appeared as celebrity Hostesses With the Mostesses in my 2024 - Year Of The Dell Rat feature.

I'm excited that you singled out the song that opened the show, the Sweet cover performed by mystery girl Cheesepuff. I discovered her video more than a year ago and have enjoyed watching it many times since. In addition to salty siren Cheesepuff, I am delighted that the sweet sound of Sweet California suits your taste. The award winning act is considered Spain's most important girl group, and their 2015 video performance of Toni Basil's "Hey Mickey" is great fun to watch. As you can tell by comparing the two song performances by Andreea Munteanu, the scarlet fever girl of Andrei Cerbu's ever-expanding Romanian talent company, the ginger pixie is a versatile artist, capable of authentically performing classic 80s rock, pop and even mid 60s Jamaican ska.

Thanks for the tidbits about Ava Gardner and Lana Turner. I don't know if the names of these characters in Obliterated, one a striking brunette and the other a dazzling blonde, were directly inspired by those famous actresses of Hollywood's Golden Age, but it works for me. I'm pleased that you gave us a blast from the past by mentioning columnist Dorothy Kilgallen. I watched her year after year as a regular panelist on the hit TV game show What's My Line?

Thanks again for the holiday visit and the the great comments, good buddy Kirk. I hope to connect with you again a few weeks from now when I resurface with my next post.

      Viva Las Vegas!

  4. Warm post Memorial Day greetings Shady! I knew you were going to post but thought it might be today and was excited because I'm actually home this morning with the hope of first comment! I didn't get first slot but that's OK...right? As usual I've never watched this Netflix show but Jack may have. He's sort of into the Viking thing but I'll check with him. The covers were good but I liked Akasha and Nikki the best. Holy lookers, it's hard to tell who's the Mom and who's the kid! In my day you always could tell the diff but today I just saw 70yr old Christie Brinkley and just shook my head. (It didn't help I had just gotten out of bed and was looking in my own mirror...yikes!) Anywho, I hope you had a great weekend and are enjoying the northern cooler temps. Thanks for posting this month and filling me in on everything I don't know...Netflix shows and good cover bands! I'll be heading out of town next week for a graduation party and will enjoy our own Lexi's graduation this Saturday. Time sure flies and now it's outside to get yard work done! Take care Shady and as always thanks for your thoughtful and sweet comments on my posts. You're the best!

    1. Hi, YaYa!

Thanks for coming, dear friend! Yessum, yesterday was very slow with folks busy with holiday activities, so today is essentially day one of this post's run. I have decided to stay on blog duty an extra day this month due to the holiday.

Welcome back to Shady's Place as I present a full report on Obliterated, the funniest, wackiest action comedy series I have ever watched. Unfortunately, I just learned that Netlflix pulled the plug on the show after only one season. I'd be shocked to find out that your Jack watched Obliterated. Maybe he was afraid to tell you. :)

I'm pleased that the "votes" are being so evenly spread for the various musical acts in this post. Thanks for singling out the Australian mother - daughter duo fronting the fine Aussie cover band Singit Live. The daughter, Akasha, is nearly a dead ringer for veteran Brit pop queen Kim Wilde. Her look and her body movements whilst performing evoke memories of Kim at her 1980s peak. Yessum, mama Nikki has retained her youthful appearance and is one of Australia's top female vocalists. I just did a Google search and found the pics of Christie Brinkley on her 70th b-day. Remarkable for sure, but let's remember that the rich and famous have access to myriad treatments and procedures to keep them young looking. Elizabeth Hurley (Shady's Place presenter Vanessa Kensington) is another timeless beauty worth mentioning.

AOK, YaYa. It was wonderful catching up with you this week and I hope you and your family stay safe and well in my absence until I return in late June with my next post. Please extend my best wishes to Lexi and say howdy to my friend Addy Rae-Rae when you seem them. They were Aria's age or younger when I started following you at the Pines, and it has been a joy to watch them grow into young women ready to take on the world. In my comment on your post, I forgot to say that I hope Summer's heart is on the mend in the wake of her recent loss. I genuinely care about members of your family.

So, please take care of yourself until we meet again, dear friend YaYa. I hope you'll take my sweetie Annabelle outside with you today so that she can supervise your yard work. :)

  5. Hello Mr. Shady! I'm glad to see you get all bikinied out:) I had a crazy Monday and, today, worse, with work. I have a slew of birthdays this m9nth...8 of them! So....living these women groups!!
The first gal did ok with one of my favs, Ballroom Blitz. It's hard to replicate that song.
Love the next girl! She has a fantastic voice and did that song justice.
The m9ther daughter team are amazing but which one is the daughter? The one with the long hair? They look the same age to me.
Love the Def Lepard renditions and that last one..I like it better than the original al. Turn Me Loose was played over and over when I went on this 20 km walk and I got sick of it. To this day I hate hearing it but I like this version.
All of them are excellent and like how you interleaved it with this TV Show which I have not seen. Except for one old guy, the rest are hot 20 somethings which is typical. Better get to work. Wishing you a great day and Harley gives his best ad always

    1. Hi, Birgit!

How are you and my buddy Harley doing, dear friend? I've been missing you and looking forward to visiting you at the BBC this week. Yessum, Mrs. Shady, our granddaughter and our grandson all have birthdays in May. Sadly, my brother's wife also died this month, the day before Mother's Day!

Thanks a lot for stopping in to experience the mad, mad, mad, mad world of Obliterated, a super entertaining Netflix series that died too soon. I'm happy to learn that you liked the covers by English YouTuber Cheesepuff and Romanian up-and-comer Andreea Coman. The latter has recorded several Def Leppard hits and they're all great. I'm glad you enjoyed all three Def Leppard covers introduced in the post.

You are not the first person to praise the mother and daughter singing duo. They are wildly popular in the Land Down Under. Akasha, the short-haired blonde singing backup on the left, is the daughter. Lead singer Nikki is her mother. By the look of her, Akasha could pass for English pop songbird Kim Wilde's daughter.

Sorry that the Canadian rock band Loverboy's "Turn Me Loose" (not to be confused with the late 50s song that was a hit for teen idol Fabian Forte) turned into an unwanted earworm for you, but glad you appreciated the performance by Young Divas, the Aussie girl group that included my favorite member Jessica Mauboy.

I really hope you can watch Obliterated, Birgit. Ep. 1 is AOK as it lets us get to know the main characters. Beginning with episode 2, however, the show is a laugh riot all the way through the final episode. The "old guy" is C. Thomas Howell, whom Mrs. Shady and I have seen over and over again when we watch the epic Civil War film Gettysburg. In Gettysburg,, Howell played a serious, straightlaced Union soldier, making his role as a sleazy, undisciplined drunk and doper in Obliterated quite jarring. He even has a nude scene!

Thank you again, very much, for visiting in the middle of your busy work day. I look forward to connecting with you over at your place in the days ahead, and again when I return with my next post in late June. Stay well, dear friend BB, and please treat my buddy Harley to a possumburger and tell him Shady sent it!

  6. Thanks for visiting CAAC on Sunday. I'm doing returns today. I hope all is well with you and Mrs. Shady. I was sorry to read about the loss of your sister-in-law. My prayers to you and your family.

Your music shares are excellent selections for putting a person in a good mood. I like that you featured all female cover artists doing some well known songs. I enjoyed best Andreea Coman and Nikki Kosmider. These gals really rock!

I'm taking a blogging break for the summer and will do my best to keep up with those who stop by my place. I will keep the dance floor up weekly and while I have a BOTB set for this Saturday, I'm not sure if I'll keep running one. The heat it cranking up. Enjoy your summer, my friend!

    1. Hi, Cathy!

I'm delighted to see you, dear friend! Thank you for setting aside time to visit me even though you are technically on a blogging hiatus for the summer months. Yessum, all is well with Mrs. Shady and me, and thanks for offering prayers as my brother copes with the loss of his wife. When he called me with the news, he was crying, the first and only time in my life that I ever heard my big brother cry.

Yessum, I would say that 90% of the covers I post are performed by female solo artists, female duos and trios, female groups and female fronted bands. Now that you have directly praised Andreea Coman, every artist on the roster has received one more more upvotes. Nikki is a sensation on the cover band/wedding band circuit in Australia. Her daughter is an up-and-comer, and it is pure delight to watch them perform as a duo and they did in these two videos.

Yessum, I am aware of your plans to slow things down for the summer so that you and DH can travel. I wish you safe travels and many wonderful new experiences. I'll drop by your CAAC site at least once every time I return with a new post. If you are away from home and can't reciprocate, it's AOK. Thanks again for your kind visit and comment and have a wonderful summer 2024, dear friend Cathy!

  7. Hello friend Shady! Hope you and the Mrs. had a great Memorial Day weekend. It was pretty quiet around our house. I must say there certainly is a difference in the pictures between this post and the last one. Talk about time travel! LOL.

All the covers were really good. Hey Mickey was never one of my favorites but Andreea Coman did a nice job with the Def Leppard songs and Nikki and her daughter were great too. I also liked the Loverboy cover. All great songs to listen to as I am out here in my studio getting some things ready for Father's Day and a craft show I have coming up this Sunday.

Sorry to hear about your sister-in-law. Holding you and your family in my thoughts. Time to go see if my MIL wants dinner before the Giants game starts. Will look for another post from you at the end of June. Have a great month!

    1. Hi, Janet!

Thanks for coming and welcome back in for a heapin' helpin' of music and fun at Shady's Place, dear friend! I hope you and my buddy Benny have been well and in good spirits during my absence from the blogging world.

Thanks for pointing out the jarring juxtaposition between my previous post, one that revisited the placid 1950s, and this one showing the wild and rowdy bunch that generate wall-to-wall laughs in the 2023 series Obliterated. As you might recall, the post before Saved By The Dell was The Creature Sings featuring "Shady's Leading Ladies" - the Scream Queens from horror movies I have watched and enjoyed. I intend to keep mixing it up in this fashion throughout the year.

I'm happy that you and friend Cathy are giving props to the exciting Romanian rock and pop queen Andreea Coman. Since being introduced by musician/producer/talent scout Andrei Cerbu a couple of years ago, Andreea has recorded so many great covers that I have subscribed to her YouTube channel. More of her fine performances are in the pipeline. I am also pleased that you responded favorably to the two performances by Nikki Kosmider-Heuskes and her daughter Akasha Starr as they fronted Singit Live, one of Australia's top cover bands, and to Jessica Mauboy and other stars from Australian Idol performing as the girl group Young Divas on their Loverboy cover.

I know you love your studio and spend much of your time there. I wish you success on your upcoming craft show. Thanks for the well wishes as our family mourns the recent loss of my brother's wife. I was going to ask about your MIL. It's good to know that she is AOK and that you are continuing to demonstrate kindness and caring as you assist her in various ways.

I don't know the exact date when I will publish my next post, but thanks for pledging to keep looking for it. If I see that you have a new post at Janet's Smiles in the next couple of days, I promise to swing by. Please remember that my comment is likely to go straight to your spam bin where you will need go and retrieve it. If I don't connect with you again until late next month, please take good care of yourself and my buddy Benny. Thanks again for your cheery visit and comment, dear friend Janet!

  8. Hey friend! It's been awhile since I've had the time and mental energy to do any type of casual blog perusal, but this was certainly a fun post to jump back in with!

I enjoyed all of these covers except for the lollipop song. It's just not my style of music. I particularly love when female singers cover male songs. It just gives songs a new dynamic. I particularly like Miley Cyrus's cover of one of my favorite Poison songs, Every Rose Has Its Thorn. Maybe you've shared it on your blog during my homework-induced sabatical. (Here's the link if you've never heard it and care to give it a listen -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKUrXNXkSG4)

Your description of this Netflix show has me wanting to give it a shot. I don't watch much TV -- I would rather read. My husband and I have been rewatching Criminal Minds from the beginning, though, and I'm definitely enjoying it.

I hope life is going well for you, Shady! Enjoy your summer :)

    1. Hi, Ashton!

Wow, it's great to see you, my longtime friend! Thanks for coming over to join the fun as I introduce Obliterated, the wild and wacky action comedy parody series on Netflix.

I'm delighted that you enjoyed most of the covers presented here and, like me, appreciate a capable cover by a female artist of a song originally recorded by a male artist or band. I think Cheesepuff, the two Andreaas and Young Divas all did a fine job of covering songs made famous by male bands. I followed the link over to Y/T and listened to Miley's cover of Poison's hit power ballad Every Rose Has Its Thorn, the original a chart topper at Christmas 1988. I liked it! Did you know that I met the members of Poison when they came to our TV studio to be interviewed and to promote their appearance at a local Tampa Bay venue, the Bayfront Center in St. Pete, as I recall. We even took our cameras aboard their tour bus and filmed them being mobbed by groupies in the parking lot. Like the O-Team from Obliterated, the Poison guys were a wild bunch. Did you know that they hail from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, just a hop, skip and jump up the road from York where I grew up.

I'm glad this feature got you curious about the series Obliterated. Be advised, it is not a show you would want Alexis to watch with you. At least 5 of the main characters have at least one nude scene. If you check my right sidebar, you might notice two familiar faces from Criminal Minds who are now celebrity presenters with their own radio shows here at Shady's Place, namely Baby Girl (Penelope Garcia) and Derek Morgan, although, here on SPMM, Shemar Moore is known as Malcolm Winters, the character he played for years on my favorite daytime drama The Young And The Restless.

Thank you again, so very much, for touching base with me, dear friend Ashton. I hope you and your family have also been well and in good spirits since we last made a connection. I wish you a safe and happy summer down there in S.E. Alabama. Yessum, I can now say "down there" instead of "up there" because Mrs. Shady and I moved back up north last summer! :)

  9. Wow! I think this goes down as your longest post yet. How long did it take to put all this together? My mind is completely obliterated now. LOL!

  10. Shady, this looks like a show I'd enjoy watching. Though my attention span with shows nowadays is too short because I'd rather be reading. Lol! I'll still check this out.

  11. Hi Mr Shady. Cat here. I do not know, whether you remember me. You know, I'm the one, that wrote all these crazy, incomprehensible poems ... smiles. Anyway, just dropped by to say Hi, because I have never forgotten about you and any of my Blogger friends ever. Many things happened in my life and I'm sure in your life as well. And that's how life goes on ... until not, right? My cat Theo is still with me. Since he came into my life as a feral, I guess, he must be about 14/15 years old. He sleeps most of the time away, but is healthy and still enjoys life. - I put up a new video on my Blogger site, should you care to look. Wishing you health and happiness, Mr Shady. Sending love from AB, Canada. cat.
