AIDA's Raving Beauties: This Marvel-ous Humanoid is Flawlessly Fake... But the Music She Plays is For Real!

I am AIDA

(Artificial Intelligent

Digital Assistant).

Your instincts are correct. I am a fake human - android - a Life Model Decoy
from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I have come to take you inside
The Framework, an alternate world where music is created
by machines rather than by mortal men.

I will serve as hostess for this edition of Shady Del Knight's rave series
featuring EDM remixes of hits by the hottest and coolest female R&B
hip hop and dance-pop artists played back-to-back in a continuous mix.
It is a rave you will remember forever (or until I wipe your brain clean).

Here in The Framework you will dance, shed your worries and
regrets and be young again. If you refuse you will be destroyed -
nothing personal - but yes, I will have no choice but to eliminate you.
Escape with me now to the realm that lies beyond the valley of the dolls.
Meet my Raving Beauties and dance like your life depends on it. It does!
And remember - anything men can do... women can do better!

 WILD ORCHID

Originally a quartet named NRG, our first group of Raving Beauties rose
to fame as the trio Wild Orchid. The act consisted of Stacy Ann Ferguson,
Renee Sandstrom and Stefanie Ridel. Ferguson went on to greater success
as the solo artist Fergie and the female vocalist for The Black Eyed Peas.
Wild Orchid recorded the theme of the mid 90s sitcom Hope & Gloria and
in 1997 released a self-titled debut album. "Supernatural," a single
from the album, reached the top 5 on MTV's Total Request Live
and played frequently on both MTV and VH1.

Dirtbag, is derived from "Set It Off", a 1984 song written

was chosen by a vote of fans to be the third single released from Hilary's 4th

Billboard Hot 100 and topped the chart
in two European countries.

    1. Hi, Kelly!

Thanks for coming over on your Saturday to claim early bird honors, dear friend!

Yessum, my mission here at Shady's Place is to mix it up and offer categories of music to suit nearly every taste (unless you're into glockenspiel, sousaphone or kazoo classics). I have an explanation as to why you might not recognize these songs even though you are familiar with some of the artists. A few years ago, I bought a series of CDs containing club remixes of major hits, and all of these special dance remixes are on those CDs.

If you like the character AIDA from S.H.I.E.L.D. I have great news. She will be back. If you don't like her, I have bad news. She will be back. :)

Remember AIDA's chant: MEN ARE WEAK - WOMEN ARE STRONG!

Thank you again for joining the fun and have a safe and happy weekend, dear friend Kelly!

  2. HI Shady and Aida! She is flawlessly lovely as a humanoid, isn't she! It's a pretty creepy time right now, but we're hanging in there. It rains every day, but has stopped today for a while. I sure hope this tragedy subsides soon, I'm ready for school to resume!

I have always liked Fergie! I really didn't follow the Blackeyed Peas, but had seen them perform on music awards when she was a backup singer. She really steals the spotlight, as a mesmerizing creature! I like "Supernatural", and thought it was more fascinating towards the end of the video when the girls were on stage, in total command of the audience! And, I have seen the video with Fergie and Mick Jagger dueting "Gimme Shelter". I like the song anyhow, and they really bring it on and nail it together!

"Be Without You" is a smooth, cool song and great for Mary J Blige. I like her because she is versatile and manages to bring back thoughts of the girl singers of the 60's. I'm afraid "Dip It Low" didn't make any sense to me, and was too fast, as well as "Set it Off" with Monica. Guess I'm slowing down some, haha.

"Spotlight" is a really good song, and Jennifer Hudson is such a beautiful girl with great talent. I remember her on American Idol as she struggled to the top. I admire her, also, for getting through her rough times...she has come a long way.

You did give us a pretty good dance song with Hilary Duff's "Stranger". I don't know much about her, only her name, but enjoyed her video.

You had some pretty great talent here, Shady and Aida. It's been kind of tough dealing with our health scare right now, and trying to keep the kids in line. Getting ready to get Scootie on line to study in a few minutes. I have him going at different times. I hope you are doing well, Shady and staying safe. Have a great week ahead, dear friend. ♫

    1. Hi, Suzanne!

Yessum... Shady's Place remains open 24-7, and I thank you very much for coming over for a visit during this tense time in our nation's history. "Strange days have found us," sang Jim Morrison, and our current situation brings new meaning to the term March Madness.

I'm glad you enjoyed AIDA's Raving Beauties. Over the years I have run a half dozen or more of these EDM/dance-pop raves, including at least two Riley's Raves featuring the cast of Sense8, Thea's Rave with the gang from Arrow, Iris West's Dance with The Flash, and even a rave hosted by Annalise Keating and the cast of How To Get Away With Murder. I truly believe this is the best song lineup yet. I find all of these songs running through my head at various times of the day. They help keep my mind off the deadly plague that is sweeping across the country and around the world.

Thanks for filling us in on Fergie's solo career after she left Wild Orchid. I agree that "Supernatural" really gets crankin' around the mid point of the song when rapper K-Borne does his thing and the girls dress in their finest for the stage. I am also pleased that you like Mary J. Blige. I was very happy to find that video sync with the remixed version of "Be w/o You" that I was seeking. For me the highlight of Christina's "Dip It Low" is the sequence showing her slithering around in some type of black goo. :) You might recall Hilary Duff from one of her earliest movies for kids entitled Casper Meets Wendy. Mrs. Shady and I played that DVD over and over for our tiny granddaughter when she'd come to visit. Lo and behold our granddaughter is now nearing age 23. As you might have noticed, the Kei$ha video "Blow," features comedic acting by James Van Der Beek of Dawson's Creek fame. The Mary Blige video features actor Terrence Howard who is now starring in the TV series Empire.

I hope this health crisis passes sooner rather than later so that we can all emerge from our cocoons and go back to our normal way of life. Please keep yourself and Scootie safe, dear friend Suzanne, and thanks again for making it over here on your weekend!

  3. Hi Shady and AIDA,

I love your playlist tonight! I'm not too familiar with Wild Orchard, but their sound reminds me of the Spice Girls. I used to love the Spice Girls around that time and I could get into Wild Orchard, I might have to check them out some more.

Christina Millian! I remember when she did a song with Ja Rule in 2000/2001. Between Me and You from Ja Rule's album Rule 3:16. I love her voice, but never heard more. I love the song you posted and I wish she was more known. She does have a beautiful voice.

I remember hearing of Monica and Hudson when I was in HS, but I was mostly into heavy metal at that point. I'm not too much of a fan, but I did love Hudson in the Hairspray remake in 2008.

Lizzy McGuire was my show! I remember Hilary Duff's funny days, but I think the time period you posted was from her more serious days. I like this style. I wonder whatever happened to her .

Love the theme this week, Shady! I can't wait to give this another listen tomorrow during work. Habs a great evening!

    1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

How are you, dear friend? Thanks for coming to AIDA's Rave, a continuous mix of hip hop and disco-funk club classix by female artists that's guaranteed to keep you dancin' till dawn! Forget your worries and git out there on the floor!

I'm excited to know you got your groove to AIDA's Raving Beauties playlist. It just occurred to me that most of these songs were on the charts and in the clubs when you were in your teens. I'm happy that you know Christina Milian. That's so cool! Maybe you can tell me what she's doing from the 2:05 mark of that video when she appears to be sliding around in black goop of some kind. Is that a thing people do in clubs nowadays... go there to get slimed? :) Looks like Hilary Duff is doing more acting than recording lately. She hasn't released any albums or singles in the last five years, but she starred in that Sharon Tate movie last year and did some TV as recently as 2018, so there's that.

I'm delighted that you enjoy the AIDA format. She will be returning with more great sounds and more threats of destruction, so please stick around.

Thanks again for dropping in and take good care of yourself in the week ahead, dear friend JM!

P.S. - MEN ARE WEAK - WOMEN ARE STRONG!

    2. Sorry for the delay. A family friend died yesterday and I've just been besides myself.

Honestly, I'm not sure if slime was a thing in that time. I was listening to heavy metal during that time period, and hard rock and grunge. I know slim was a Nickelodeon thing back in the 90s.

Have a great evening, dear friend.

    3. Gosh, I'm sorry for your loss, Jessica Marie. There are tense times, and the death of a family friend only adds to the misery. I'll be thinking about you during this period of mourning. Take care!

    4. Thanks, Shady. She had a bowel obstruction and she vomited into her lungs, it was a downhill battle from there. :( Because of COVID-19, I couldn't visit and the last time I visited was last month. I'm grateful that I got to see her last month and had 30 years with her. Sigh. It'll be so strange and I feel bad for her sister. They were living together.

I was listening to your playlist again and Ke$ha put a smile on my face. I like working out to Ke$ha, her music is fun and the song you used is the most fun, in my opinion. Whenever I hear her, I feel like pulling out my glitter and having fun.

A month ago, co-workers and I were chatting about Jennifer Hudson. I remember her in Hairspray and I loved that remake. Jennifer Hudson rubs my one co-worker the wrong way, she said there's something about her, however, she loves her voice. She has a beautiful voice, I just feel bad about what happened to her family in early 2008.

Have a great Thankful Thursday, dear friend!

  4. Good morning Shady! I'm actually home today and I'mm planning on doing a lot of cleaning and decorating for Easter. I'm not sure if we'll have our annual Easter celebration with the kids but I will still plan anyway. I've never watched S.H.I.E.L.D but she's sure right about women being stronger than men! I should know since I've had 4 boys, 4 brothers, and thankfully only 1 hubby! I know some of the artists here today but not the songs. But that's why we come here to learn, right? Thanks for an uplifting post that doesn't mention what's happening outside. Take care of yourself and I hope you and your family are doing good down south.

    1. Hi, YaYa!

Thanks for coming over and leaving such a cheery comment, dear friend! I agree. With so many gloom and doom posts and articles bombarding us on a daily basis, I am determined to keep operating Shady's Place as it was always intended, as a fun place to escape your cares for a while. What better way than to let AIDA take you inside The Framework where you can sing and dance your troubles away... or else! AIDA's Framework reminds me of The Shady Dell, a unique setting secluded from the outside world where teenagers could relax, be themselves, have fun and blow off steam free of parental micromanagement.

I'm glad you agree with AIDA's mantra "MEN ARE WEAK - WOMEN ARE STRONG." I actually pulled that chant from deep within my memory banks. In the mid 1950s, when I was very young, I watched the serial Flash Gordon. I remember an episode in which an evil queen and her minions repeated that chant over and over as Flash Gordon and his crew, their strength sapped by some magic potion or spell, looked on in fear of their lives. Way back in 1999 on the Movie Serial Message Board, a user left this comment in support of my own recollection:

"It's not often that a forty-year old memory pops to the surface, but seeing this post about the FLASH GORDON tv show reminded me that I saw one of the episodes when they were new. Flash is captured by a queen who wants to prove the superiority of women. She shows Flash how easily she can hold a certain oblong piece of wood, but Flash can't even lift it. (It was some kind of trick, I think.) She then locks him in a cave where he's forced to watch a tape of the queen on a TV screen saying over and over, "Men are weak, women are strong."

That chant stuck in my memory all these years and I decided to have AIDA adopt it for her features. Stick around because she will be back with more in future posts.

I hope the news is all good about your mother, sister Midge, you, Jack and every member of your family, and that it will remain so throughout this serious health crisis. Please take care of yourself, dear friend YaYa, and thanks again for dropping by!

  5. Tom,

Good day! This is an exciting edition featuring Raving Beauties in the mewsic industry. I'm familiar with most of these gals but I think all of the song titles are new-to-me. These are mostly artists I do not listen to unless someone is sharing with me. It's always a welcome to sample tunes that I normally wouldn't. We're going to have to begin this TV series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It's on our watch list but it's hard to get into the whole superhero thing mainly because I don't like the way the writer builds the lead female characters usually. Different strokes for different folks as they say and that's not for me but I am curious about the program. We'll evidentially get around to watching it. Thanks for the great mewsic and fun post. Now, stay healthy and don't worry about making it over to my place with all that's going on there. I understand, really! Keeping you and yours in my prayers daily. Have a great week, dear friend!

    1. Hi, Cathy!

We are just getting back home from our day trip and doctor appointments across the state. I'm happy to be "sheltering in place" once again.

Thank you very much for coming to see what mischievous AIDA, the robot girl from S.H.I.E.L.D., has up her sleeve. I'm delighted that you recognize most of the female artist names if not the song titles. I hope this danceworthy mewsic put some zip in your day. The TV series S.H.I.E.L.D. was best in the first few seasons. Mrs. Shady and I lost interest in the final season and didn't complete it. I think I know what you're driving at when you talk about female characters in superhero shows and films. I don't like muscular, tough looking women who are always engaged in combat. I prefer them on the feminine side and don't mind it one bit when they rely on a man for protection. The AIDA character is feminine but with dark and dangerous side. I find her interesting. Stay tuned for more volumes of AIDA coming up in the future.

Thank you for understanding what we will be up against down here in the coming weeks. Unfortunately two of us are having eye surgeries and follow-up exams during the month of April (unless postponed by the viral outbreak). That will make it more of a challenge for me to devote my attention to your daily A to Z posts. At the very least I will gaze at all of your sketches even if I don't have time to comment or to write a very good comment as I like to do. My eye surgery is scheduled for early June.

Thanks again for joining the fun, dear friend Cathy, and stay well up there in Tennessee!

    2. Tom,

Yep, you know precisely what I was hinting at regarding my dislikes on how writers perceive a powerful woman as someone with brawn instead of wit. To me a woman who outwits a guy or gal is by far more powerful and without breaking a fingernail doing it. :)

I surely do understand the things on your plate and I honestly mean it when I say, don't sweat it. Visit, don't visit, comment, don't comment, ...whatever is comfortable for you then that's fine by me. You and yours are your #1 priority and that's the way it should be.

Has Florida issued a Stay at Home order yet? Our city, maybe the whole state did that yesterday. DH is now working from home for the next 14-days. I have one doctor appointment tomorrow and another on Monday, then I'm good until mid-April for my next one. Hopefully by that time the threat of the virus will be less worrisome.

Take care and be well, my friend!

    3. Hi again, Cathy!

I'm glad I read you correctly there, dear friend. You and I are of like minds on the issue of femininity, and it comes up over and over again in blogging and in the media. that's why I like the character AIDA from S.H.I.E.L.D. AIDA controls the vertical. AIDA controls the horizontal. She does it while keeping her cool, without breaking a sweat or chipping a nail. She always looks perfectly put together. Of course, it helps that she's a machine. :)

Thanks for reassuring me that your feelings won't be hurt if I am tardy or absent from some of your A to Z posts. One of the eye surgeries got bumped earlier today and now lands right in the middle of the month. That means there are two surgeries within a week of each other and two patients I will need to care for, administering eye drops and giving rides to appointments, all during the month of April. Yessum, family is the #1 priority, but I make loyal, fun loving friends like you a priority as well. I am highly motivated to visit your site because I always find it interesting, educational, entertaining and amusing. I especially like your artwork and particularly this year's A to Z theme, and that is why I will make a big effort to be there for you.

I just checked, and so far Florida has not issued a Stay at Home Order. Yesterday as we were driving across the state we passed sign after sign announcing that the Gulf beaches are closed, yet I am sure many people, especially younger ones, the spring breakers, are disregarding those signs and going to the beach. They are playing Russian Roulette with their health and the health of other people that could become infected when the students return to their schools, towns and homes.

I sure hope you and DH stay healthy. Good luck venturing out to those doctor appointments. Do as I did yesterday at my doctor's office. Stand instead of sit in the waiting room and squirt/rub some of their disinfectant gel on your hands on the way out.

Thanks again for being a great friend year in and year out, Cathy!

  6. How are you keeping with these times? i am doing ok and enjoying my life making sure I wash my hands often, hand sanitizer and keeping my distance. Now, how did you know I walk around in these clothes and jiggles my T & A at work like that. All the gals do this ya know. These songs are not for me but I have to say I don't mind Kesh$a -that dirty little tick tock gal. I hope Edun is safe since she lives in Italy. In this day and age, I am always a bit surprised how much these gals do love to show off their ..um...assets. Sorry for going all feminine on ya. Well, I am the last one in the office and tomorrow, I will be working from home. Stay safe and enjoy all the singing, jiggles and twiggles.

    1. Hi, Birgit!

Thanks for coming down to enter AIDA's virtual reality world The Framework, dear friend. I'm glad to see you!

As I told Cathy (above), Mrs. Shady and I needed to venture out today and drive across the state to another city for doctor appointments. I didn't want to run the risk of exposing myself to the virus, but the doctor visits are mandatory if I am to get my prescriptions refilled every month. It is what it is.

I can picture you dancin' and prancin' out on the floor dressed like these Raving Beauties. :) Thanks for letting me know you favor dance-pop yodeler Kei$ha. Did you noticed Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek in her video, winding up with his head mounted on the wall?

Truth be told I have been saving this post as a draft for 4 years, never quite able to get it scheduled and published. At the time I wrote it, most of these songs were already "oldies" because they charted in the 2000s. Kei$ha's "Blow" is most recent recording, having been released in 2011, and the first song by Wild Orchid was released in the late 90s. Therefore, the costumes and wiggling and jiggling are a snapshot of how female hip-hoppers and dance-poppers looked and acted back then, and not necessarily indicative of what female performers are doing in 2020. I tuned out a long time ago.

Yessum, I can't help wondering about Edun and the people of Italy, including my oldest blogging friend Katia. I pray that we soon get a handle on the crisis "here, there and everywhere" before many more people die.

Thank you again for your visit and kind comment, dear friend BB!

We were visiting each other's sites at the same time, dear friend. Thanks for popping over to mine today!

I'm happy to learn that you recognize some of these female zingers. Your Atlanta home girl Monica really sizzles on "Get It Off" aka "Set It Off," especially on this club remix that I was lucky to find on YT. All of the songs in this post are special DJ remixes of the original singles, making them extra funky and danceworthy. of all the songs in AIDA's set, Monica's and the one by Mary Blige seem to run through my mind most often.

Thanks again for being here. Keep well and enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Sherry!

    1. Hi, Kirk!

I'm happy to see you, good buddy! It's been a while since I've seen you and was starting to worry that you had come down with the virus. I hope that is not the case and that you are merely hunkering down and staying safe. Thanks for making a big effort to get a comment written and submitted. I appreciate it.

I'm delighted that you remember some of these female zingers and their hits from your clubbing years in the 2000s. IMO these remix versions put extra zest into the originals, making them ideal picks for dance clubs, private parties and for my latest rave at Shady's Place. These remixes are available on a set of CDs I bought a few years ago. I produced the draft of this post four years ago and have been holding onto it. Fortunately, in the years since, YT producers and audio-video sync editors have been busy uploading higher quality videos of these remixes than the ones I embedded in 2016.

Yessir, as bots go, AIDA is a looker, but don't cross her or she'll put a hurtin' on you. She is played by Australian actress Mallory Jansen. Prior to her stint on S.H.I.E.L.D. Mallory co-starred on Galavant, a musical fantasy comedy TV series on ABC. I see that she was also in an episode of This Is Us. I watch that series regularly and did not recognized her.

Thanks again for laboring so long to get a comment sent in, good buddy. Wait... I see there's more! You left another comment, helping to boost my comment total. Thanks!

  9. One final thought. Since she works for SHEILD, a secret agent agency, maybe instead of licensed, she's dressed to kill.

    1. Hi again, Kirk! Thanks to you I am mopping the flop sweat from my forehead now that you have helped bring my comment total up into a respectable range.

It has been a few years since I watched the S.H.I.E.L.D. seasons with AIDA. As you see in the pics, AIDA wore tight fitting gray and black suits that show off her figure and legs. There was also this O.O.T.D. -

The male characters on the show all agree: AIDA's to die for.

Thanks again for joining the fun, good buddy Kirk. Please take good care of yourself in the days and weeks ahead. I have a new post beginning tomorrow for a 5 or 6 day run and I hope you can join me again. Take care!

  10. Greetings again and thank you for this show, friend Shady:) Here is hoping that you and your family are still healthy although prolly home bound. My family and I are still healthy as well. Some of my clan are lucky enough to work from home. As an "essential frontline health care worker" I myself am required to continue working. Wish me luck, mmm?
Love, cat. (As of today, 358 active COVID cases in AB, 3 recoveries, 2 deaths and a multitude of suspected cases.)

    1. Hi, cat!

Thanks for coming down to AIDA's Rave, dear friend! I hope the adversarial android's play list helped take your mind off the plague for a while. Thanks for reporting the status in Alberta. That's an awful lot of COVID cases in your territory. I applaud and admire you for having the courage to do your duty and report to work on the front line as a healthcare professional. I pray that you remain healthy for the duration of the crisis.

Thanks again for dropping in for a visit, dear friend cat. I'll be thinking about you in the days and weeks ahead. I offer this little tune to cheer you:
