 Ad Slogan:

 "We Mean Clean!"

Mice and Monster painting by Kestutis Kasparavicius

 TRIVIA QUESTION #1

Below are the posters of 7 horror
and science fiction movies of the
mid 20th century.  Can you tell me
what these films have in common?

 TRIVIA QUESTION #2

"We mean clean" and
"Life’s messy. Clean it up!"
are slogans of a well known
vacuum cleaner and floor care
product manufacturing company.
Can you tell me its name?

Hi, I'm Shady Del Knight.

You'll see the answers to my trivia questions in a moment,
but first, please hear me out.  For more than 18 years,
you have been able to read my blog free of charge.

Let that sink in - 18 years worth of A+ entertainment
and it hasn't cost you a dime.  Now, for the very
first time, I am humbly asking for your support.

Recently, I got in on the ground level and became a licensed
franchisee for an exciting new company.  I sunk my family's
entire nest egg into a newly launched fragrance for women.
Keeping in mind that Christmas gift giving season is fast
approaching, I hope my sales pitch (below) will convince
you to purchase as much of this fine product as you
can possibly afford.  Thank you, dear friend!

Ladies, why settle for Chanel No. 5...when you can turn
heads (and stomachs) with Rotten Fish brand perfume?

 ROTTEN FISH

Rotten Fish is the only fine fragrance sold in a distinctive green canister
with removable lid. Rotten Fish makes a great holiday stocking stuffer.
Gents, surprise that special someone this Christmas with a gift that shows
how much you care, the gift of Rotten Fish perfume. Imagine the look on
your lucky lady's face when she rips off the wrapping paper on Christmas
morning and finds Rotten Fish.  Imagine how she'll react when she opens
the cute and collectable green can and takes a whiff.  Why, her little nose
will be a-wiggling and a-twitching like Samantha Stephens!

Rotten Fish is available exclusively from your friendly middleman,
yours truly Shady Del Knight.  Why wait?  Don't delay!  Contact me
today and wow me with a whopping order.  Satisfaction guaranteed
or I will humbly apologize (but, sorry, I won't return your money).

Don't forget our slogan...
With a name like
 ROTTEN FISH

...our perfume has to be good!

 ROTTEN FISH
...makers of

 ROADKILL
splash-on aftershave for men and

 DEAD SKUNK
cologne.

 ANSWER TO
 TRIVIA QUESTION #2

The ad slogans
"We mean clean"

and
"Life's messy,
clean it up"
were created
for the
Bissell
Corporation.

Bissell manufactures vacuum cleaners, sweepers and floor care products.

Founded in Michigan in 1876

by entrepreneur and inventor Melville Bissell...

the Bissell company rose to become

the leading manufacturer of floor care products in North America.

Bissell remains at the top today.

 ANSWER TO
 TRIVIA QUESTION #1

WHIT BISSELL

The horror/sci-fi films Creature From the Black Lagoon,
Target Earth, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, I Was a
Teenage Werewolf, I Was a Teenage Frankenstein,
Monster on the Campus and Psychic Killer all
featured one of my favorite character actors
Whit Bissell.

Bissell, no relation to the founder of the famous vacuum cleaner company,
specialized in playing authority figures such as scientists, psychiatrists,
doctors and college professors. In Teenage Frankeinstein, Bissell plays
Professor Frankenstein, a madman who gives new meaning to the
term "bodybuilding" by assembling a human being in his lab
using cadaver parts.  Hijinks ensue! Watch this brief scene:

Now check out Whit Bissell's bedside manner as hypnotherapist
Dr. Alfred Brandon in a scene from Teenage Werewolf
starring Michael Landon and Yvonne Lime:

I loved Whit's deadpan performances in movies like these
because they lent credence to these outrageous tales of
invaders from outer space and teenagers mutated
into hideous creatures.

Thanks for the memories (and the monsters)...

WHIT BISSELL

DUSTY SPRINGFIELD
My 3-post Halloween Spooktacular is nearly at an end.  Given that
today's offering was loaded with spooky little boys like The Creature,
Teenage Werewolf, Teenage Frankenstein and Monster on the Campus,
not to mention the spooky Whit Bissell, it seems appropriate to include
a seasonal song performed by English singing star Dusty Springfield.

Dusty covers a song made famous in 1967 by Dennis Yost and
his group Classics IV. Dusty's version was released in the UK
during the Halloween season of 1970, the B side of a cover of
another American hit, "How Can I Be Sure," originally by
The Rascals. Here now is Dusty Springfield crooning a
tune that remains a Halloween favorite-- "Spooky!"

"Spooky" - Dusty Springfield
(Sept./Oct. 1970, B side of "How Can I Be Sure")

To finish the show, here are those showstoppers from Vigo,
those Spanish fireballs, those exciting Hispanic beauties and
their beasts, the world famous rock band Broken Peach,

unveiling their annual Halloween music video.
Here are Sela, Eri and Lara backed by Ruben,
Pepo and Julian with this year's special event,

a cover of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and the
Rockwell hit "Somebody's Watching Me!"

Broken Peach!

Broken Peach Halloween Special: (Oct. 2026)
"Thriller" - Michael Jackson/"Du Hast" - Rammstein
"Somebody's Watching Me" - Rockwell +
Michael Jackson & Jermaine Jackson

Have a Shady day and a

 HAPPY

 HALLOWEEN!
